How it Works - The Peanut Butter Factory

At the heart of every production of The Peanut Butter Factory is a single contract between the Producing Company (us, The Peanut Butter Factory) and a Producing Artist (director, actor, playwright, dancer, technician, or none of the above).

Box Office
House Management
Venue Relations
Audience Development

...and the

Producing Artist

is responsible for...

Performers
Designers
Stage Management

That single contract is all the paperwork that exists between the Producing Company and Producing Artist. We assume the Producing Artist will maintain private contracts and agreements with their artists and the production team, just as The Peanut Butter Factory maintains private relationships with advertisers, press, and local businesses.

When the show starts generating income, all show-specific profit (fundraising, box office, etc.) is split between Producing Company and Producing Artist, with a generous majority towards the Producing Artist. Income obtained privately (like through an independent artist grant) obviously can't be policed by us, so those awards would be the Producing Artist's to keep in full.

A post-mortem is guaranteed within the month after the production closes, for both sides to reflect on the process and raise any commendations or concerns. And then Producing Company and Producing Artist both walk away from the table and onto the next project of their careers.

That's about it, in broad strokes. It's really that simple.
